Hi Everyone! In class, Miss Hannah showed us a video on wealth inequalities and today I am going to reflect on this video with my reactions. It was pretty shocking so I suggest you watch the video to find out how rich you are!
Observations ( What I Noticed ):
This video was pretty interesting to me due to the fact that I didn't know about this before. I could see how this is an inequality when the rich is getting richer every single day and the poor are getting poorer. The economy balance isn't actually balancing and this is kind of a disappointing fact to hear. As you can see in the video, 3 BILLION people combined have less money than the 3 HUNDRED richest people in the world. The graph shows how there was a dramatic slope between the richest and poorest people globally. It's kind of weird to me somehow when the richest people in the world are always trying to get more money and want even more and more. I promise that with all the money they have, they wouldn't spend it all their whole life and what is all that money for when there's billions of people needing assistance around the world? Do we even think about those who are in need when they never have the chance to develop? I can see how it's hard for the poorest people in the world to get richer due to this wealth inequality. According to Miss Hannah, the rich countries are assisting the poor but what they get back is humongous. They get to come into those countries and get all the resources or use those countries land to build factories for free - not tax. They are supposed to pay much more than that:) So, the only thing we can do about this is to change the rules.

Feelings ( How I Felt After Watching This Video ):
Frustrated - why are the rules this way?
Worried - In ten years, what would this global economy be like?
Confused - why's the government not doing anything? They probably aren't too stupid to not figure out this:) Does this have anything to relate to corruption?
Abominable - stressed
Despair - what can we possibly do and how can we change the rules?
Desperate and Pain - this is very shocking to me
Let's calculate how many money does the 5 richest people in the world have:
#1: Bill Gates : $79.2 Billion
#2: Carlos Slim Helu : $77.1 Billion
#3: Warren Buffet : $72.7 Billion
#4: Amancio Ortega: $64.5 Billion
#5: Larry Elision : $54.3 Billion ( Source: Forbes )
Together, they all have $347.8 Billion. Isn't that a lot? What would all those people do with those mountains of bills? Buy a gold castle or a diamond one? It's impossible and we will never know the real value of this number.
Thanks for reading my post:)
